Accident investigation
When accidents happen it is vital that you act quickly and that the first steps you take are the right ones. In the aftermath of an accident you can find yourself under sudden, severe pressure - it can be easy to make mistakes that could compound the initial accident. We can assist you when liaising with enforcing authorities and advise you on the best course of action to take. We can also help you to interview witnesses, assimilate evidence, and write and review accident investigation reports.
Corporate guidance
We advise the boards of well-known corporations on health and safety strategy and its implications for them as individuals and for their organisation. New corporate manslaughter legislation is likely to have an even larger impact on roles and responsibilities for health and safety at senior management level. Workplace Law can present a corporate health and safety briefing session for your senior managers, tailor-made for your organisation.
We understand how important it is to set the right tone when dealing with busy directors, senior managers or executive officers, for whom health and safety is just one of a number of demanding responsibilities. The style and content of the presentation will be agreed with you in advance - our aim is to be professional, supportive, and to include the practices and procedures of each client within the presentation to make it more real.
In recent years we have undertaken corporate health and safety briefings for a wide range of clients, including: Broadgate Estates, DHL, Exxon Mobil, Financial Services Compensation Scheme, Forth Valley NHS Trust, etc. etc.
Documentation review, preparation and training
In addition to publishing standard policies and procedures documentation to Workplace Law Network members, we regularly undertake bespoke policy documentation reviews for our clients to ensure their records are kept up to date or to comply with requests from an enforcing authority.
Where significant amendments or new processes have been introduced, we are able to put together a special training programme for our clients to help them ensure that the policy is carried through by their staff in the workplace. Documentation includes:
- Health and safety policies
- Method statements
- Bomb threat/security procedures
- Permits to work
Occupational health
With our combined expertise in health and safety and human resources management, we are able to offer you a co-ordinated approach to issues in occupational health, including:
- Health screening

Risk assessment
The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 require you to carry out suitable and sufficient risk assessments for areas of significant risk, to record their findings, and to ensure that documentation is kept up to date as necessary. We can carry out risk assessments on your behalf, or provide risk assessment training for your staff, to deal with the following hazards:
- Confined spaces
